Spanish police were able to catch the criminal thanks to Google Maps (5 photos)
The service's camera accidentally captured a car into which the criminal was pushing the victim's body.
In 2023, a report was filed with the Spanish police about the disappearance of a Cuban citizen. Law enforcement officers took up the investigation of this case, but there was practically no evidence. But in November 2024, the police were attracted by Google Maps images taken in Tahueco, a sparsely populated municipality of Andalusia.
They showed a man putting a bag in the trunk of a car, the outline of which resembled a human body. As a result, the owner of the car and his girlfriend were arrested on suspicion of murder.
It turned out that she was the girl the Cuban met through correspondence. He was going to visit his new friend and came to Tahueco. But the jealous boyfriend of the amorous Spanish woman found out about it, and as a result of the quarrel, the Cuban was killed. The couple planned to take his remains to an abandoned cemetery, which they did, but the criminals were unlucky. At the very moment when the killer was loading the victim's body into his car, a car equipped with a Google Maps camera was driving through the village. It took several pictures that decided the fate of the criminal and his girlfriend.
Another photo showed a man carrying something bulky in a wheelbarrow.
It is interesting that the murder was committed in one of the quietest municipalities in the country. Less than a hundred people live in Tahueco, and it is almost impossible to meet anyone on the street there. And one more nuance: in order to hide the crime, the killer sent messages from his phone to the victim's relatives that he was supposedly planning to travel with his new girlfriend, so he might be out of touch.
The police are not yet disclosing more detailed information about the incident, citing the confidentiality of the investigation.
