Concrete misunderstanding: builders poured cement into a new bus stop (3 photos)
The contractor was tasked with laying concrete underneath the structure, but instead poured concrete all over the surface, including the seats, leaving passengers waiting on the bare ground.
Bangkok locals were shocked to find that a recently renovated bus stop outside a convenience store had turned into a "concrete mess." Passengers noticed that the comfortable seats were completely submerged under a layer of fresh cement.
According to the newspaper, the contractor was tasked with laying concrete on the ground underneath the structure. However, instead, he poured concrete all over the surface, including eight green plastic seats. As a result, passengers had to wait for transport sitting on the bare ground.
The situation was made worse by the fact that the contractor had not received instructions to remove the seats before starting work. After the incident, he admitted his mistake and assured that he would take all measures to correct the situation.
However, the story did not go unnoticed on social media, causing a storm of discussion and ironic comments. Users of the r/Thailand subreddit suggested that the situation could have been caused by an overly literal approach to following the instructions.
"The person pouring the cement probably knew there were seats there, but decided it wasn't his job. He was tasked with pouring concrete, and he did it," one commenter wrote.
Other users took the incident with humor. Many jokes appeared on Facebook, including that the project could be seen as a demonstration of correct posture for passengers waiting for a bus.
The publication notes that the contractor is now actively working to correct the error, but the incident has already become one of the most discussed incidents of the week in Bangkok.
