Someone Filled It with Concrete: A Chest Filled with Pure Gold Was Found in a Basement (3 photos)

One of the builders who was doing repairs in the basement suggests that the treasure was poured into concrete before the Second World War. The value of the find is estimated at 2.3 million euros.





During repairs at one of the villas in Vienna (Austria), workers found an amazing treasure in a chest. According to preliminary estimates, about 30 kilograms of "Mozart coins" made of pure gold were stored there. Their value is estimated at 2.3 million euros.

It is reported that a worker who was tearing up the floor in the basement of the house noticed a rope sticking out of the concrete, but decided not to touch it. The next day, a plumber came to the construction site. During a conversation with the owner of the house, he also noticed the mysterious cord, but was unable to pull it out, so he took a shovel and, while shoveling the earth, came across a metal box filled with concrete.

The journalists of the publication report that the plumber was very lucky: according to Austrian law, he has the right to at least a third of the treasure he found, and he may even be able to take half. The rest belongs to the landowner.



In this story, the builder was very unlucky, he was the first to notice the rope, but was too lazy to dig up the treasure. Perhaps this is one of the biggest mistakes in his life.

"It's really incredible. I've been working in construction since I was 15. I've found single coins from time to time, but a find like this is simply incredible," the lucky man's friend tells Heute.

He assumes that the gold was poured into the concrete before World War II.
