Two US Prisoners Conceive a Child Without Having Met (2 photos + 1 video)

Convicted 29-year-old Joan DePaz and 24-year-old Daisy Link have been serving sentences on various murder charges since 2022 and were held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County, Florida. They say they never met in person, but they had a child together.
Daisy and Joan didn't know each other before they were locked up, but once they were in solitary confinement, they began communicating through the air vent. They exchanged photos and notes, and soon Joan shared her dream of having a child. Daisy agreed.
When asked how she got pregnant, she said it was "through the air vent."
To implement the idea, Joan passed sperm wrapped in film down the shaft like a cigarette every five days, and Daisy used applicators for treating thrush, in which she placed sperm and injected it into herself.
According to her, she got pregnant after several attempts. Dr. Fernando Ackerman, medical director of the Miami Fertility Center, said that although the chances of getting pregnant this way are small, it is possible.
The baby was born on June 19. The five-month-old is now living with her mother.
The couple is currently in separate rooms. Depaz, who is charged with first-degree murder, is being held at the Metrowest Detention Center, while Link, who is charged with second-degree murder, is still being held at Turner Guilford Knight, records show. They still talk on the phone and have video calls with their child.
