A girl took up her favorite hobby near the walls of the royal palace and ran into hate (3 photos + 1 video)
Kieu Hoa took a couple of unusual photos in front of the cultural heritage site in Seoul. She believes that there is nothing wrong with this, but both her compatriots and South Korean citizens were unhappy.
37-year-old Kieu Hoa posted photos in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace in the South Korean capital, Seoul, on her Instagram page. It is a national heritage site and was the main royal residence and seat of government during the Joseon Dynasty, from 1392 to 1910.
In the footage, Kieu Hoa posed near the main large gate of the palace, but received criticism from all sides - both from compatriots in Vietnam and from South Koreans. Many questioned whether her behavior and clothing were appropriate, given that this is a sacred and cultural institution for Koreans.
"The palace is a sacred place in their country, the same as our imperial city of Hue. Shameful behavior," said one netizen.
Commentators also believed that this way would give foreigners a negative impression of Vietnamese citizens.
The girl herself did not consider herself guilty, because she did not violate the rules and did not receive any warnings from the palace security, so she began to defend herself.
"Everyone has their own preferences, and we must respect the differences," wrote Kieu Hoa.
Yoga near the walls of cultural institutions: what experts say
Professor Seo Kyung-duk of Seoul Sungshin Women's University said that the girl has the right to practice yoga in any country or region, but it is clearly wrong to do it near the walls of cultural treasures of other countries.
"Her statement that such behavior will not cause problems is incorrect," Seo Kyung-duk said.
The Center for Royal Palaces and Tombs, which is affiliated with the Korean Heritage Service, also spoke out, saying there was no reason to punish Kieu Hoa, as she was not practicing yoga on the palace grounds.
"We will take action if we find behavior that is not in keeping with the image of the palace. The police will be notified if any physical force other than simple physical contact is used against the palace wall," the center said.
