In Germany, a man stopped a moving train by running onto the tracks (2 photos)
The incident took place in Bavaria. According to the police, on the evening of November 2, the man stepped right onto the tracks in front of an approaching S3 train in front of the Malching station. The train, traveling at 85 km/h from Mammendorf to Holzkirchen, found itself in an extremely dangerous situation. 
The train driver applied the emergency brake, stopping the train just two meters from the man. When asked what he was doing, the man replied that he had forgotten his backpack in the S-Bahn and would not leave the tracks until he got it, since the key to his apartment was inside.
After coordinating her actions with the dispatcher, the train driver allowed him to board the train, closed the doors and drove to Maisach station, where she waited for the federal police to arrive. However, the man activated the emergency door release and fled along the tracks.
A Deutsche Bahn security officer demanded that the man leave the tracks. In response, he threatened him with a stone and made a gesture as if he was going to throw it. Police said the guard took this as a serious threat and retreated.
As a result, a federal police helicopter was scrambled, and the search that began led to the S-Bahn service between Pasing and Mammendorf being stopped for 45 minutes, which also affected the train schedule between Munich and Augsburg. According to the police, this caused "significant disruptions to rail traffic." 
By 21:30, traffic had been restored. In the S-Bahn, police officers did indeed find his backpack, in which they found documents indicating his address and a key to his apartment. The man has still not been found.
According to authorities, he is a 29-year-old Eritrean who arrived in Germany in July 2024 and is in the asylum process. He has previously been prosecuted for violating the residence law. Now, he is being charged with dangerous interference with rail traffic and threats.
