170 kg in the air: the world's first flying sauna took to the skies in Finland (2 photos + 1 video)
The sauna stayed in the air for about an hour at an altitude of 2,300 meters. Its inventors do not rule out that in the future the flying sauna will become a tourist attraction.
Two twin brothers from Finland have created the world's first flying sauna in a hot air balloon, which weighs 170 kilograms.
Ari and Jari Lehtinen, known for their unconventional sauna designs, have successfully launched an innovative flying sauna.
During its maiden flight, the sauna reached an altitude of 2,300 meters, allowing its users to experience temperatures of 80 degrees Celsius.
The flight lasted about an hour, with two sauna enthusiasts and two crew members on board.
"You always want to try something that others don't do. And a sauna is always fun. People are usually in a good mood when it comes to a sauna. It's an incredibly good counterbalance to work," Ari explained.
On launch day, the brothers began preparations early in the morning, carefully monitoring the weather conditions to ensure a safe flight.
As one of the brothers noted, creating this flying sauna was a unique challenge.
"There are no pictures or instructions. You just have to use your own head and think how to do it at any given time," he said.
While it is primarily an engineering feat and cultural expression, the Lehtinen brothers do not rule out that their flying sauna could become a tourist attraction.
