A new statue of Elizabeth II has appeared in the UK. The bronze sculpture, installed in the gardens of Antrim Castle in Northern Ireland, has caused outrage among locals. Many found the work by Anto Brennan ridiculous, and compared the appearance of the late queen to Mrs. Doubtfire from the 1993 comedy starring Robin Williams. But is it really that bad? Just look at the statues of Kate Moss and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Greta Thunberg from the eyes down
In 2021, the University of Winchester proudly announced the creation of a £24,000 sculpture of activist Greta Thunberg. Locals were surprised why they chose it, since it has nothing to do with the city, and students called the work a waste of money.
As a result, the statue was removed from the main entrance to the university.
The infamous bust of Cristiano Ronaldo
In 2017, the authorities of the island of Madeira installed a bronze bust of Cristiano Ronaldo at the local airport. The creation immediately became the object of ridicule, but Emanuel Santos assured that the Real Madrid striker liked his gift. It took him 15 days to create the bust, he worked from photographs of the footballer.

Dwayne Johnson was not happy when a life-size wax figure was created in his image and likeness. The 51-year-old actor approached the Grevin Museum in Paris with a request to make the double's skin darker.
Kate Moss in gold
In 2008, the British Museum opened a sculpture of model Kate Moss in a yoga pose. Marc Quinn called his 50-kilogram gold work "Siren", it cost more than 1.5 million pounds sterling. For some reason, the heroine was twisted like a pretzel. Oddly enough, Moss was delighted.
Andy Murray: Tennis Player or Medieval Warrior?
In 2011, the organizers of the Shanghai Rolex Masters tournament erected a statue of tennis star Andy Murray. The only thing Andy had in common with his own statue was the solemn expression on his face during the opening ceremony.
Giant Royal Garden Heads
Ben Bennett found massive clay heads of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at a garage sale and installed them on his Windsor lawn. He put them up for sale for £2,000 after the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
Abstract statue of Prince Philip
In March, it became known that the statue of the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip would be torn down in Cambridge. The four-metre bronze sculpture, worth £150,000, was erected 10 years ago to mark the Duke's 35th anniversary as Chancellor of Cambridge University.
Since its installation, the sculpture has been the subject of controversy, with local authorities calling it the worst work of art.
