A volcanic eruption caught tourists by surprise
Tourists who went to see the Dukono volcano in the northern part of the Indonesian island of Halmahera experienced some of the most unpleasant moments of their lives. A video has appeared online showing people fleeing after the volcano began erupting. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
People were near the crater when the eruption began. A huge cloud of ash shot up into the sky and the tourists realized that it was time to leave immediately. Thanks to their quick actions and luck, none of them were hurt.
The Dukono volcano rises 1,335 meters above sea level and has been actively erupting since 1993. Its activity poses a great threat to those who decide to climb to its summit. However, this does not stop thrill-seekers.
