John Pennington said that when he woke up, he immediately thought he had to go to work. However, he was tied to a bed in the hospital.
According to journalists, John Pennington, who lives in Las Vegas, was in a car accident at the age of 30, as a result of which he received a traumatic brain injury, a collapsed lung and other complications, and therefore ended up in a coma.
However, it is reported that after six months of a coma, he woke up, which shocked the nurse.
According to Pennington, when he woke up, he immediately thought he had to go to work. However, he was tied to a hospital bed.
"When I made eye contact with the nurse on duty and asked if I could use the restroom, she burst into tears and ran out of the room. But then she came back a few minutes later to apologize and explain that I had been in a coma for the last six months due to a very severe head injury," the man said.
After that, he was presented with a bill for $2.5 million for treatment. He created a GoFundMe page to raise money. He also had help from a lawyer.
"My lawyer did a great job getting everything paid. I was glad when he told me it worked out," the man said.
Pennington said his father committed suicide while he was in a coma.
"My sister told me four weeks after he woke up that our father had killed himself. He couldn't cope with everything that was going on and he killed himself. That guilt has haunted me throughout my recovery," he said.
