A genetic miracle. A shelter saved an adorable kitten with four ears (2 photos + 2 videos)
Sometimes genetics loves to throw up charming surprises, especially when it comes to the animal kingdom.
Our planet is home to many species of animals, some of which are extremely rare due to population decline, but others are extremely rare thanks to genetics, which can sometimes throw up charming surprises.
From albino anteaters to flawless giraffes, color is one aspect that often ends up in the hands of the genetic lottery. This adorable case shows that animal ears are not immune to this.
Four kittens were brought to the True Rescue shelter in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, USA. The shelter staff did not expect that one of them would suddenly have four ears, but it did. It is known that the kitten is no more than 8-9 weeks old and they named him Audio.
A veterinarian is expected to examine the kitten soon, but experts assume that the extra flaps on the ears should not interfere with his life. The animal will be given to the vet for a full examination, but a preliminary examination showed that the kitten's inner ear is in perfect order and should not cause any problems. At least, except for the fact that the extra flaps need to be cleaned.
Kittens like Audio are extremely rare, but he is not the only one of his kind. In 2021, a cat named Midas was discovered in Turkey, who also had four ears. As an added bonus, she also received a heart-shaped patch of fur on her belly. Later, the animal even appeared on social media.
