Toyota has unveiled a new small SUV, the Starlet Cross, designed for the South African market. In fact, this model is not new: it is a renamed Urban Cruiser Taisor from India. The Starlet Cross has not received any external differences, but the engine range of the model has been revised for the new market. In South Africa, the compact crossover will cost at least R299,900 or $13,000.





The design of the crossover with the release on the new market was improved only by expanding the color range of the body due to two new shades. The interior architecture has not changed: in both India and South Africa, the SUV is equipped with, for example, a media system with a 9-inch display, but the colors for the Starlet Cross interior were chosen differently.

For the African version, an alternative 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 105 hp has been prepared, which can be combined with a five-speed manual or a four-range automatic. In India, Toyota Taisor has a wider range of engines, which includes engines with 90 or 100 hp, and in addition to manual or automatic transmissions, a robotic one is also provided.
