A man woke up after a 244-day coma, but got into another accident (4 photos)
A 30-year-old Florida resident was in a terrible accident and spent 244 days between life and death. His recovery was a real miracle. However, an evil fate still overtook the man: a few years later, he was hit and killed by a pickup truck.
In 2017, a few days before his 23rd birthday, motorcyclist Drew Cohn was in an accident. He had severe injuries, including a traumatic brain injury. He fell into a coma, but woke up 8 months later.
His mother, Yolanda Osborne-Cohn, told WTLV-TV News, "The doctors were considering harvesting organs. But I made it clear to them that they weren't getting a fingernail or an eyelash."
The woman held out hope and was rewarded.
Her son came to and said, "Mom, I'm OK. I love you."
After years of grueling rehabilitation, Drew began walking again. But his life was cut short on July 26. Cohn was walking along Collins Road in Jacksonville around 5:30 a.m. when he was struck by a pickup truck.
The driver admitted that he did not notice the pedestrian. The culprit of the accident called an ambulance, but it was too late.
Despite the mental pain, Osborne-Cohn is grateful for the seven years she spent with her son.
"God granted my request, and I'm not angry. I'm at peace," the mother admitted. "I got seven years. I remember sitting on Drew's hospital bed, like Hezekiah, with his face to the wall, saying to myself, "Thy will be done."
The woman believes that her son is in heaven and no longer suffers: "Drew is healed, he's walking, he's not struggling to keep his balance. And his hand is probably raised so high that he's exclaiming, "Thank you, Jesus!" In one hand, Drew is holding a football, and in the other, a Bible."
