An ultra-fast electric car more powerful than the Bugatti Chiron is being designed to set a Nurburgring record.
Xiaomi showed the most powerful and fastest modification of its SU7 electric sedan called Ultra. It is equipped with three engines with a combined output of 1548 horsepower and can accelerate to 100 km/h in 1.97 seconds. However, the company does not plan to sell such an SU7; this is a kind of experiment designed to prove Xiaomi’s ability to develop and apply high electrical technologies.
The power plant of the SU7 Ultra includes the most powerful electric motors developed by Xiaomi, in fact, this is the official debut of the new technology. The car's body is entirely made of carbon fiber, and although the Ultra looks similar to the serial SU7, the new product is noticeably different in both aerodynamics and weight. The impressive bodykit can generate over 2.1 tons of downforce from a supercar weighing 1.9 tons.
The new product will reach a speed of 200 km/h in 5.97 seconds, accelerate to 300 in 15 seconds, and the declared maximum speed is 350 km/h. The SU7 Ultra stops thanks to 6-piston AP Racing brakes and the most efficient mode of operation of the recuperation system - its braking distance from a speed of 100 km/h is 25 meters.
Xiaomi believes that the development can compete with European analogues, also not built for public roads. In October, the company will take the SU7 Ultra to the Nürburgring and try to set a new record among non-production cars. Potential rivals include the VW ID.R racing prototype with a time of 6 minutes and 5.33 seconds, as well as the Lotus Evija X, which recently completed the famous track in 6 minutes and 24 seconds.
