A military plane crashed during a training flight in Poland. The pilot died
On Friday, July 12, an M-346 Bielik combat trainer aircraft crashed at the Polish Gdynia airport during a training flight. The pilot died on the spot. RMF FM writes about this, Censor.NO reports.
It is noted that the aircraft was practicing maneuvers in preparation for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Gdynia Naval Aviation Brigade, which was scheduled for Saturday, July 13.
“At the Gdynia airport, during a training flight, the M-346 Bielik aircraft touched the airport apron. The rescue operation continues,” the General Command of the Polish Armed Forces said in a statement on the social network.
It is known that the pilot did not have time to eject. He died on the spot.
Polish Air Force Inspector General Ireneusz Nowak said the deceased pilot, Roberta Jela, was a very experienced pilot. In addition, the plane that crashed was almost new - it was put into service in 2022. All M-346 Bielik flights are currently suspended.
The cause of the plane crash will be investigated by a special state commission for the investigation of aviation accidents.
Polish media reported that the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Gdynia Naval Aviation Brigade, which was planned for Saturday, was canceled due to the plane crash.
