Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has become known for his extravagant gifts and charitable donations.
Blogger MrBeast, known for his grandiose philanthropic events, has announced his new initiative. The content creator built and donated 100 houses to families in need.
The new project joins a series of charitable efforts by the popular blogger, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, to use his platform for social impact.
MrBeast has become known for his extravagant gifts and charitable donations, often featuring them in his YouTube videos. Previously, the man had already carried out similar campaigns, including paying for operations to restore vision and remove cataracts for thousands of people. He also gave away more than $3 million, a private jet and an island. His video recreating the hit Netflix series "Squid Game," where contestants competed for a $456,000 prize, has received more than 424 million views.
Despite his best efforts, MrBeast is often criticized for using his significant fortune, amassed through YouTube, to fight social inequality.
"When we help people (for example, fund cataract surgery for 1000 people, build 100 houses, 100 wells, etc.), people get angry and say I shouldn't do this, but governments should do this. Yes, Ideally a blogger shouldn't have to deal with these issues, but I'm not going to just stand by and do nothing,” he wrote to X (formerly Twitter).
Critics argue that creating content based on such activities can be exploitative. However, MrBeast defends his approach, saying that he intends to help and that all proceeds from his videos are used to fund other similar projects.
"I use my money to help people and I promise to give away all my money before I die. Every last penny," the content creator responded.
MrBeast's latest efforts include building 100 clean water wells in Africa, meeting critical needs in Kenya, Somalia and Zimbabwe. The initiative has sparked criticism of these governments, highlighting their neglect to provide basic necessities.
