“People were panicking”: a hysterical man began throwing things from the roof of a skyscraper (3 photos + 1 video)
33-year-old Jean Olivier from the United States began throwing lawn chairs and other items from a 20-story high-rise building in the center of Manhattan (New York) during a hysteria. These things almost hit passers-by on the street.
Law enforcement sources say Olivier visited the Haitian Consulate General, where he complained about living conditions and then became angry and threw a chair and several other items out of the window. Meanwhile, a motorcyclist drove past the building, who barely managed to dodge and, fortunately, was not injured.
In released footage taken by witnesses from a building across the street, the angry man can be seen waving his arms. According to one of the witnesses, Modibo Chissoko, this lasted about half an hour.
“I saw a lot of people looking around, panicking, and then the police arrived,” he said in an interview with reporters.
The police, who arrived on call, found the troublemaker and handcuffed him.
According to law enforcement, Olivier is charged with burglary, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and unlawful entry of a building. The investigation into this incident continues.
By the way, the building where the curious incident occurred was designed in 1955 by Emery Roth & Sons. In 1993, it was reconstructed by the world famous architect Der Skatt, who is the author of the “Trump Tower”.
