The adult film actress returned to the profession after 15 years of working as a nurse (7 photos)
Sadie Summers, 38, from Canada, who began her career in adult films at age 19 and has appeared in more than 70 projects, has returned to the profession 15 years after leaving the industry. After working all these years as a nurse and social worker, helping elderly people at home, she decided to dedicate herself to porn again.
The world of pornography used to be "concentrated in one area of the world, like Los Angeles," with a few other options in Florida in Europe, she said.
You really need to be in Los Angeles to make a name for yourself and earn your living
“, she admitted. Sadie said she wanted to do something else and not feel tied to one place. She also enjoys skiing and mountain biking.
I was at a point in my life where I really enjoyed skiing, playing sports and traveling in the mountains. I felt like having to be in Los Angeles all the time was limiting and I just needed to do something else at the time. I moved back to Whistler, Canada and started nursing so I could ski more often.
, explained the 38-year-old woman, who has a husband and a three-year-old son.
Even though Summers was happy to have more time to devote to her hobbies, she missed the "raunchy" world in which she once acted.
I wouldn't say that I'm retired. I just somehow left. I knew...if I was in a tragic car accident and looked like I couldn't make movies anymore, I could still work as a nurse. That's why I really wanted to have that piece of paper that no one could take away from me.
, she noted.
During the 15-year break, Sadie learned to appreciate the important things in life, and her self-confidence only increased. During her time as a nurse, Sadie had seen many people die of regret and realized she didn't want to end up the same way.
They would all like to have more free time to spend with their families. Almost 99% of people would like to live differently. And I'm like, "Why am I limited by social norms?" I love sex work. I'm not ashamed of it. So let's try something new that will give me more free time with my family
, she says.
Her colleagues were indifferent to her resignation from her post as a social worker, but her friends and family supported her return to porn. The key role in the decision to return to the field of adult films was not played by money. She made significantly more money in nursing than in the X-rated industry, but she "loved" sex work so much and wanted more freedom in her schedule that she took a pay cut:
I think a lot of people look at it like it's an easy side hustle to make money, but it's quite difficult.
