A Pakistani girl adopted by a Chinese couple has become an Internet sensation in China (3 photos)

A 20-year-old Pakistani girl has attracted the attention of Chinese citizens thanks to videos in which she speaks fluently one of the Chinese dialects.





Based in China's Henan province, Fan Zihe, known as Xiao Hei Ni, was adopted by a Chinese couple twenty years ago while they were working in Pakistan.

In 2021, the girl first published a video in which she eats local delicacies while speaking in the Henan dialect. The video quickly went viral and attracted many subscribers. Zihe now has more than half a million followers on Weibo.

Her fluency in the local dialect raised doubts among some Chinese netizens, who suggested that her videos were the work of a professional team or generated using artificial intelligence.

Denying the accusations, Zihe said she was happy to see the enthusiastic response. She also explained that she identifies as Chinese. The girl explained that she had been living in the village of Fangzhuang, Ruzhou city, in Henan province, since childhood.



According to the girl, despite the fact that she has been aroused by suspicious looks from strangers since childhood, her parents decided to give her the best upbringing.

“My family is not rich, but my parents never treated me badly. They love me in their own way,” Zihe said.

After her popularity on the Internet, many media companies offered Zihe lucrative contracts and cooperation, but the girl refused for now, saying that she did not want her work to be monetized so early.

Apart from a few part-time modeling jobs, Zihe mainly makes a living by farming in her village and helping out in the family business, allowing her to earn 4,000 yuan ($767) a month.

However, Zihe mentioned that she wants to become a live streamer and sell her village's agricultural products while promoting Henan as a tourist destination.

Her ultimate dream? Buy a house closer to the city for your parents when they get old.

“I’m still young, so I have to fight for my family,” the girl explained.
