British actor Bernard Hill was born in Manchester in 1944. There he graduated from the School of Drama. He became popular after playing Yosser Hughes in the television series Blackstaff Boys. And the phrase of his hero: “Give us a job!” became one of the main slogans during protests against the government of Margaret Thatcher.

Hill's finest hour came after filming Titanic - where he played the captain of the ship.
He consolidated his success with the role of King Rohan Theoden in the trilogy directed by Peter Jackson “The Lord of the Rings”. We know him from these works, but in the West he was quite popular.
Hill is the only actor to have acted in two films that won 11 Oscars.
He died today at the age of 79. The causes of death have not been specified.
