A pensioner's pet has gone missing - an alligator named Wally (5 photos + 1 video)
A pet alligator disappeared in Georgia, USA, where its owner was visiting. Joey Henney believes the famous pet was stolen.
A resident of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, posted a post on the reptile's TikTok page, where he pleaded for help.
"Between 4:30 and 7 a.m., someone broke into the lot and stole Wally," Henney said in a video posted Saturday.
"He was pulled out of his enclosure while we were visiting friends in Georgia. We need all the help we can get to get my baby back."
Henny, who calls himself "Wally's dad," adopted the 14-month-old alligator from the rescue center in 2015.
In a 2019 interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer, he admitted that the animal helped him cope with depression after the death of close friends.
According to his owner, 10-year-old Wally is a gentle giant who has never tried to bite anyone and can feel people's emotions.
The alligator's social media pages are filled with videos and photos of people hugging him like a little child, snuggling with him and even kissing him. The American often brings his unusual pet to meetings and children's birthdays, where he poses for photo sessions.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources reported that on April 21, a resident of the Brunswick area reported a “nuisance alligator,” and an expert responded to the call and caught the predator. The alligator was “released in a remote location,” the department added.
A man believes his pet was stolen to play a prank on unsuspecting homeowners.
In the state of Georgia, alligators cannot be kept as pets, but in Pennsylvania, where Wally and Henny live, there is no such ban.
“Wally is completely different [from other alligators]. There are no others like him,” complained an upset Henny.
