Hyundai has developed a “cooling” tint for cars (5 photos)
Hyundai is working on a nanocooling film, announced in the summer of 2023. The development is positioned as a “revolutionary car window tinting” that provides better interior cooling compared to conventional tinting. Transparent nanofilm reflects infrared rays and transfers heat outside, keeping the cabin cool when temperatures outside are high.
The operating principle of Nano Cooling Film is known in general terms. The three-layer transparent film not only reflects external solar rays, which are known to be in the infrared range, but also removes heat from the underside.
Tests of test samples of the film currently underway in Pakistan, where the heat is 50 degrees Celsius, have demonstrated its effectiveness. Thanks to Nano Cooling Film, the temperature inside the car in the area of the driver's head was 11 °C lower compared to tinted windows and 12.33 °C lower when it came to standard interior glazing.
In the case of the interior surfaces of the cabin, the reduction in heating turned out to be just as significant: by 15.38 °C compared to a car with regular tinting and by 22 °C when there was no tinting at all.
The company is going to verify the durability of the invented coating before starting to equip its cars with a cooling film, or offer it for sale as a separate product.
