Hypercar Hyperion XP-1 with 2038 hp. will be put up for sale (31 photos + 1 video)
The SBX Cars auction on April 25 will put up for auction the XP-1 hypercar from the American startup Hyperion. This is one of seven pre-production prototypes built by the company. The XP-1 is supposed to be equipped with a hydrogen power plant with a capacity of 2038 horsepower, but the copy put up for sale is deprived of it.
As far as can be understood from the lot description, the prototype was used to develop the final design of the Hyperion XP-1 body. At the same time, it is capable of moving independently due to an electric power plant with unnamed characteristics and, allegedly, can be used as a show car.
Like the coupe in the 2022 presentation photos, the car is finished in a matte titanium hue with blue, black and yellow accents. The interior architecture of the hypercar for sale also coincides with that which the production cars will receive. However, the auction site does not specify how functional the prototype’s interior equipment is.
As a bonus, Hyperion will offer special conditions for the purchase of a commercial vehicle to the buyer of the prototype. You can either exchange one for the other, or keep the prototype and buy a road XP-1 with a set of certain bonuses.
The hydrogen hypercar was first announced back in 2020, and the first technical specifications were announced two years later. Hyperion XP-1 will be equipped with four electric motors with 2038 hp, which will allow it to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.25 seconds and accelerate to 256 km/h. Filling the tanks with hydrogen will take only five minutes, while the range, depending on their volume, varies from 810 to 1635 kilometers. When exactly deliveries of commercial vehicles will begin and how many there will be is still unknown.
