In Denmark, if a girl is 25 years old and still unmarried, she is tied to a pole, doused with water and sprinkled heavily with cinnamon.
It turns out that this ritual appeared around the 16th century. According to legend, the men selling various aromatic spices were lonely; they simply did not have time to find their beloved. Then they experimented and found the most attractive aroma from the available range of spices. This scent turned out to be cinnamon. They applied it to the body throughout the day to attract the opposite sex. The rich aroma attracted not only buyers at the market, but also girls outside it. This is how the tradition has been preserved in Denmark.
The fact is that even after the Danes sprinkled with cinnamon are washed off, they will still smell of a specific spice. Men who smell this scent will know that she is available and will be able to easily get to know her and start a romantic relationship.
