In 2018, a real scandal broke out in Japan. In Wakayama Prefecture, the legendary “Japanese Don Juan”, famous for his very vivid statements and winning the hearts of 4,000 women, died.

Moreover, having settled on the 4000th woman, he connected his life with her, inviting her to become his wife. However, just a couple of months after the wedding, he died at the hands of his 22-year-old wife.

First, let's talk briefly about who Kosuke Nozaki is and why he was nicknamed Don Juan?

The future Japanese Don Juan named Nozaki Kosuke was born into a poor family, which is why he had to start working very early.

Nozaki made his fortune from scratch, working several jobs and, in his free time, selling everything from scrap metal to delivering contraceptives door-to-door. The latter (by the way) brought him crazy income due to Nozaki’s unique sales method, which he attributes to the fact that young women helped him deliver them from house to house, from whom they very actively bought all the goods.

At just 20 years old, Nozaki was already earning three times more than the average office worker in Japan.

After accumulating a certain amount of savings, he expanded his assets through investments and buying up small plots, and then went to Tokyo to open a lending business, officially joining the ranks of the rich.

Over the next decades, Nozaki increased his capital by opening new real estate companies, liquor stores and several other different businesses related to finance.

And it is noteworthy that he earned all his money exclusively for the sake of women

In his autobiography, Kosuke Nozaki, comparing himself to the literary Spanish playboy (Don Juan), wrote: “I am a man who gave 3 billion yen to 4000 beauties who made me happy. <...> I became a rich man just to be able to sleep with thousands of women. I'm not interested in cars or houses."

In Japan, Kosuke Nozaki became famous and nicknamed "Don Juan" after a sensational theft incident in which his hired housekeeper stole 60 million yen worth of jewelry from him. After the incident, Kosuke stated in an interview that he had no complaints against the woman, since he earns money only for the sake of women and that 60 million for him is waste paper.

And then came several more viral interviews in which he talked about how he won the hearts of 3,999 women in his life and that he kept count of each of them.

However, it was his 4000th woman who became fatal for him.

“When I meet a tall, elegant woman, I ask her if she wants to spend the night with me. If she agrees, I’m ready to give her 400 thousand yen right away.”

Some people may think that I am a very bad person, but since I was a child, I have worked hard and done all sorts of jobs to earn the money I have today. And I earned them in order to get thousands of women. Everyone’s dreams are different, and I have never done anything wrong,” Kosuke says in his book.

Despite such a huge number of ladies, the Japanese Don Juan never had children and was married only twice.

But in 2018, at the age of 77, he married for the third time to his 4,000th woman, a 22-year-old Japanese woman named Sudo Hayaki (who was an adult film actress).

But this time he met his end

After two unsuccessful marriages, he again decided to marry a girl who had a difference of 55 years due to the fact that she was not a noisy girl, but was a slender beauty with a melancholic character and reticence.

He was very confident in this marriage and believed that he could be happy.

However, in May 2018, just three months after their wedding, 77-year-old Kosuke Nozaki died suddenly at his home.

The incident happened so suddenly that it shocked people all over Japan.

The number one suspect in the murder of Nozaki Kosuke, naturally, was his 22-year-old “innocent” wife. The Japanese Don Juan had traces of illegal drugs in his body, but there was no sign of a needle or any mention in his medical records that he had ever taken them. This information led investigators to believe that it was a case of intentional poisoning. And suggest that perhaps his wife is to blame.

Then Sudo Saki said that she had no motive: she could receive millions of pocket money from her husband every month, so why would she kill him?

The investigation and investigation went on for three years, and the wife was the main suspect. The police had no direct evidence of the girl's involvement. However, during this time, the widow of the Japanese Don Juan quickly appointed herself president of the company he founded, and planned to leave Japan.

It was during this period of time that it became clear that shortly before the incident, Sudo was at risk of losing her fairy-tale life. According to Japanese broadcaster NHK, Kosuke Nozaki was considering divorcing her and even consulted his lawyer about it. Not wanting to accept the fact that she would lose millions and end up on the street, the girl took everything into her own hands and decided to take all her husband’s wealth for herself before he divorced her.

The Japanese police did not hesitate, but obtained an arrest warrant for the girl due to suspicions of her involvement. Also helping to obtain the warrant was the fact that the security footage obtained did not show anyone entering or leaving their home for four hours before or after dinner while Nozaki was alone with his wife.

In addition, after her arrest, analysis of Sudo Hayaki's smartphone and computer showed that in the weeks before the incident, she had been searching for information about special substances and how to make a murder look like someone had died from an illness. Location data on the phone also showed she was in the same location around the same time the 77-year-old businessman is believed to have died.

Although investigators say they have circumstantial evidence against her, the court said prosecutors will have to either formally charge Sudo or release her. The girl was arrested by the Wakayama Prefectural Police on April 28, 2021 and is still (as of 2024) detained at the Marunouchi Detention Facility. She did not admit her guilt. She is still awaiting trial, but there is a high probability that she will be able to get away with it and become the heir to her husband's huge capital.
