A couple of bloodthirsty pit bulls tore apart the car, trying to get to the cat (7 photos + 2 videos)
An unpleasant incident recently occurred in the American city of Jacksonville (Florida). In principle, this could happen anywhere where careless owners of strong and quite aggressive dogs live, who do not monitor their pets and allow them to roam freely at night.
In a nutshell: two pit bulls fought and chewed on a Honda SUV, trying to scratch out a cat that was hiding in the engine compartment.
Since the incident took place at three o'clock in the morning, no one noticed what was happening except the CCTV camera. The owner of the car was sleeping at home. She woke up from the noise, but by that time the damage to the car had already been very significant.
In an interview with Fox 8 Live, Christy Barr, the owner of the car, said that the damage caused by the four-legged criminals is estimated at at least $3,000.
“I thought someone had taken a gun and shot at my car,” Barr said.
She added that the police and insurance also initially decided that it was clearly the work of a man - and only after she asked them to study video from CCTV cameras near the house, the situation was fully clarified.
She said the neighbor's cat was not injured. And that's good news.
But the dogs have not yet been found, nor have they determined who their owner is. And this is bad news.
So the main question is one: who released these dogs.
The footage begins with the neighbor's cat sitting on the sidewalk next to the driver's side of the car and then appears to notice the dogs. A few seconds before the dogs appear in the camera's field of view, the cat jumps behind the engine compartment of a Honda SUV - and the dogs immediately begin to try to get it out of there. They fail to do this, but they manage to seriously damage the car. Then the dogs just leave.
According to Barnes, this was the best-case scenario because the cat managed to survive.
She and other residents of the home expressed concerns about their safety, citing the city's failure to provide information about the dogs still at large.
As for her car, she received a temporary replacement from the insurance company, which recorded the damage caused by the dogs before having it towed.
“Nobody believed it was dogs until they saw the video,” she says. “My neighbors and I are worried.” If these dogs can do that to metal, they will tear a man apart.”
During a conversation with television reporters, the woman addressed animal owners: “You must take care of them. Don't let them run around the streets in the middle of the night."
