Women in China stopped breastfeeding (6 photos)

You know, on average, about 50% of women in the world choose to breastfeed their child. In some countries it is less, in others it is under 90%. But it turned out that in China only 29% of women breastfeed. This is practically the lowest figure. Why?!

This is uncivilized!

China doesn't like the culture of public feeding. Women in the shopping center breastfeeding even in a sling (covered position) are stopped and forced to go to the toilet. Or in a staff room, but mother and child rooms are not necessarily built. In general, the feeding of society is being squeezed from all sides. Social support for nursing mothers is minimal.

Women who breastfeed in shopping malls are reprimanded and taken out of sight

For some this is not aesthetically pleasing, I can understand. But this also shows a low level of tolerance towards people.

The social very much dominates the ordinary Chinese and does not give free rein to individual needs. That's why Chinese women refuse to feed their children, just so as not to receive censure from society.

In addition to the fact that breastfeeding is recognized by WHO as extremely beneficial for the child, it then plays into a healthier exit for the mother from the postpartum state. Since breastfeeding delays menstruation, which increases the length of time between pregnancies.

In our country, too, in recent years the percentage of breastfeeding mothers has dropped below 40%

China is trying to improve the situation

Since 2021, China received statistics on the lowest level of feeding and decided to at least do something. Adopt the experience of other countries in order to bring the indicator from 29 to 50% and above, which is considered the modern developed norm.

The first most anticipated move is to build breastfeeding facilities in various institutions. Let's be ironic: well, who would have thought!

In old complexes, women have to be sent to the back rooms and inventory rooms.

True, in some places such rooms are still open “for show” and are extremely uncomfortable for mothers. Since they were equipped only later, after the building was laid out, such places may even be poorly heated.

Infant formula lobby

Even in China, milk formulas are advertised on every corner, on which your child will literally blossom, go to work at two years old and learn a thousand characters a day.

Chinese store, so much choice it's dizzying

This is a very “bread” market in China, because women here are very eager to return to work as soon as possible after giving birth. Their career and workplace won’t last long; employers really don’t like people on maternity leave.

But in few places in the world is it easy for a woman to balance between work and motherhood; this is the general background. Another thing is that when a woman nevertheless makes a choice in favor of motherhood, society should support her in her decision, and not push her.

And some mothers are so desperate for work that they tie their children to harnesses in order to go to work. And here they are trying to solve the feeding problem

Do you think the only problem is that there are not enough rooms and amenities for the mother. Or is public opinion in China also to blame for pushing women so hard that they don’t want to breastfeed?
