A Canadian resident found 5 thousand dollars in the ventilation (6 photos + 1 video)
Last Thursday, a Duct Stories employee was cleaning an air duct in a Winnipeg home when he found an old can. It contained a wallet with bills totaling $5,000.
Earl Masank, owner of Duct Stories, never thought that an air duct could serve as a hiding place.
“This is the craziest thing we have found in the last three years of work,” admitted Masank.
Arthur Sanchez pulled an old cocoa can out of the chimney and gave it to the homeowner. To everyone's surprise, there was a wad of money inside.
The bills were stamped "Ottawa 1974".
“Usually we see dust, rats, dead insects, bullets and all sorts of nasty things in the pipes, so this was a surprise for us,” says Masank.
When asked why he didn't keep the find for himself, he laughed: “Well, if it's money, we give it to the owners. It's their property. But if it's regular garbage, then it immediately ends up in our vacuum cleaner.”
The owner of the house, Mary, is planning to go on a trip.
“I don’t think anyone expects to see a wad of cash...I was afraid to open the jar, I didn’t know what was inside,” the woman commented.
Mary has been living in this house for 10 years; immediately after moving in, she called ventilation pipe cleaners, but then there were no extravagant finds.
“And now, 10 years later, they suddenly found this pile of money.”
She believes that the money belonged to the previous owner, and he probably hid it.
Mary will spend the amount on a trip to the Philippines.
