The American tuning studio Hennessey has announced a new super-project based on the already discontinued Dodge Challenger in the SRT Demon 170 version. The coupe, which has become a bright point in the model’s biography thanks to its 1039-horsepower engine, will receive an even more powerful unit from the tuners. However, Hennessey is not going to modify the stock V8.
The studio promised to equip the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon with an engine producing more than 1,700 horsepower. The development of the supercar will be carried out by a new division, Hennessey Special Operations, specially created for extreme projects. He will have to design a completely new engine for the coupe, which will receive two turbochargers.
According to Hennessey's calculations, the new supercar will be able to travel a quarter mile in 7.9 seconds with an exit speed of more than 280 km/h. Thus, it will beat the stock SRT Demon 170 by a full second, for which the claimed time was 8.91 seconds.
The base for the experiments will be the personal car of the head of the studio, John Hennessy. In total, it is planned to build 12 of these supercars, of which, apparently, only 11 are available for purchase. The studio promises that the engines will be carefully removed and packaged from client cars. This way, the car can be returned to its factory condition at any time. There are a few months left before the official debut of the super-Demon.
