Hussaini Bridge – walk over the abyss (8 photos + 1 video)
The usual attractions in the form of architectural monuments, museums and parks are great. But some people like it, as they say, hot. And there is an alternative – attractions for extreme sports enthusiasts.
Like this bridge in Pakistan, in the northern part of the country. The exact date of construction of the structure connecting the banks of the Hunza River is unknown. But judging by the condition, that was a long time ago.
Windy weather is typical for this area. And if locals are accustomed to the need to move along a shaky system, and even with a load on their shoulders, or even with livestock that they have to lead, then for tourists, crossing the Hussaini becomes a real test of strength.
Initially, the bridge was built from simple materials that were at hand - ropes and boards. Over time, many became thin and even disappeared in the fast waters of the river.
However, the design was not initially distinguished by its fundamentality and thoroughness. The distances between the boards reach 40 centimeters, which ensures high windage of the bridge. What is important taking into account the climatic characteristics of the area.
Adding to the emotions is the fact that several bridges have already been demolished during the storm. The sensations are slightly smoothed out by the magnificent views and life-affirming inscriptions on the boards. Those who overcame the bridge and themselves left messages on the wood in the style of “don’t give up,” “believe in yourself,” and so on.
The situation is also aggravated by residents of the nearest village with stories about how many people never reached the shore and died after being thrown into the river by strong gusts of wind.
Not all tourists manage to overcome the path. Some turn around in the middle. Well, those who overcome themselves and Hussaini become the happy owners of confidence and bright photos against the backdrop of picturesque nature.
Would you risk crossing such a bridge?
