Residents of Uruguay filmed an anteater standing on its hind legs in front of a herd of cows. It turns out that the cows approached his territory, and the anteater took a defensive position, spreading its hind and front paws wide - this is considered a warning sign in the anteater world. Raised on their hind legs to appear larger, they spread their paws ready to claw at anyone who gets too close. Two cows, having sniffed the anteater, immediately understood everything - and retreated.



According to experts, cows are lucky because the anteater's front paws are equipped with powerful claws, which they use to destroy large anthills and termite mounds. The video was filmed in a field in the Uruguayan city of Tacuarembo. Experts determined that the video shows a tamandua, or four-toed anteater. Despite the fact that this species is distributed throughout South America, conservationists say that these individuals are becoming increasingly rare.
