What Marvel movies look like without visual effects during filming (12 photos + 1 video)

Filming is always very interesting, no matter what kind of film you are working on. But it's even more interesting when Marvel movies are made.

Let's take a look at what's happening on set on the other side of the screen.

The photo shows a stunt double for Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man. At the moment, filming is underway for the third part of the solo film about the defender in the red suit.

But it will only be partly solo, because it will feature a bunch of different characters, including different versions of Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, as well as Otto Octavius, Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy played by old actors.

Usually, in order to indicate where the character’s head will be, they put ordinary balls, but Marvel decided to go even further and attached a whole portrait of Thanos.

And here are the balls themselves. Of course, the use of a portrait or balloons depends on the situation. Balloons were often used when filming Groot, which we’ll get to right now.

But even Groot was sometimes filmed without balloons. And in this case they went even further than with Thanos. If Josh Brolin had a regular portrait, here is a whole model of Groot's head. This character, by the way, is voiced by Vin Diesel, but, as you can understand from the physique of the actor in the photo, Vin Diesel seems to only voice him and does not take part in the filming.

Here comes Avengers: Endgame. You can imagine what the film crew and Paul Rudd went to. They shrunk the actor down through time travel specifically for this scene. Bravo.

I don’t know about you, but this photo only brings warm feelings to my heart. I just don’t know why. Perhaps the environment is good.

And this is a photo from the filming of the series WandaVision, which has already premiered and four episodes have been released. The series turned out to be very good, it set the pace and was, in general, unusual. You can watch reviews of all episodes on my channel. Despite the fact that the episodes last only half an hour, they are very rich in interesting plot twists and Easter eggs.

Yes, you will be surprised, but the raccoon turned out to be not real. In fact, the role of Rocket is played on different occasions by Bradley Cooper and Sean Gunn in green suits, as well as various toys.

And this is what Sean Gunn looks like as Rocket. Behind him is his brother James Gunn, who directed two Guardians of the Galaxy films. I wonder if all Gunns are this talented?

In this photo you can take a closer look at the portrait of Thanos, as well as the happy Josh Brolin, who after some time will give his on-screen daughter for the soul stone.

These points and cameras in front of Josh Brolin's face are motion capture technology, thanks to which we can look at the detailed faces of the characters that are created using visual effects. This technology was actively used not only in Marvel films. The Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes, Avatar and many other films made extensive use of motion capture technology.
