Priest Joan Paulo is known for his good deeds throughout Brazil and beyond. This big-hearted man works with shelters, actively encourages people to help homeless animals and adopt shelter animals, and incorporates this into his church activities. He even brings stray dogs to services.

Joan Paulo is a priest from Gravata, Brazil, who loves animals very much and is always happy to help them. A few years ago, the man began collaborating with a local shelter, and since then he has been actively inspiring people to help animals and adopt dogs from shelters. Over time, the priest also began to collaborate with universities on animal castration programs, and his good deeds became known throughout the world.

"I have always loved animals. When I arrived in the city of Gravata, employees of a non-governmental organization that cared for homeless animals came to my church. They sold cookies, and with the proceeds they bought food for dogs. I not only bought cookies, but also started advertise the organization in the church. They then had almost 100 animals, and they all lived in unsuitable premises. I began in various ways to inspire people to adopt a dog," the priest said.

The priest himself adopted three dogs, which he calls his “children.” Since then, Joan Paulo has been constantly helping local homeless animals, and continues to support the castration program together with the university. When the man was asked how many dogs he had saved, he modestly replied:

“I didn’t save them, they saved me. Every day I am convinced that God sends us animals to make us more humane and better. Rescued animals do not need anything other than love. I don’t regret for a second that I accepted these gifts and committed to caring for the animals until my last breath," says Joan Paulo.

In Brazil, as throughout the world, there are many homeless animals, and they all need love. According to the priest, saving a stray animal or adopting from a shelter is the best option. For those who can't adopt a dog, he recommends "donating food, providing temporary shelter, offering dog walks and supporting those caring for homeless animals."
