So, yesterday, at about 3 p.m., the police received a report of a fight on one of the streets in the village of Podvinogradov, Beregovsky district.
“Law enforcement officers immediately stopped the violation of public order and established that as a result of the incident one of the participants was fatally injured. The police carried out priority investigative and search actions and as a result detained an attacker involved in causing bodily harm to a 40-year-old deceased: the suspect is a 34-year-old local inhabitant.
It is preliminary known that the defendant struck the man once on the head with a metal object, which subsequently led to his death,” the report says.
Currently, the attacker has been detained and will be placed in a temporary detention center. The man’s actions are qualified under Part 2 of Art. 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional grievous bodily harm).
Law enforcement officers also identified other participants in the brawl. Currently, investigations are being carried out against them. After carrying out priority measures in the case, additional legal qualifications are possible.
According to the publication "Zakarpattya Online", a mass brawl with murder occurred in connection with the election of a new "baron" in the local Roma camp.
“A showdown began between representatives of two competing “clans” inside the camp. Emotions ran high and, as a result, a large-scale brawl occurred, as a result of which, according to law enforcement officers, a person died. Shots were reportedly heard on the street.
The relevant services tried to intervene and resolve the conflict, but this did not produce results,” the publication notes.
