A US woman has avoided jail after sneaking into her daughter's school to check on security. This was reported by The Washington Post.
33-year-old Texas resident Casey Garcia received a suspended sentence following a jury decision. She was put on trial after an incident that occurred in the summer of 2021. Then the American dressed as a teenager and entered the school building under the guise of her daughter, filming what was happening with a mobile phone camera. 
The recording shows the woman wearing a yellow hoodie with a Marvel print, sneakers and a medical mask. To be convincing, she took the backpack. “I go to school disguised as my 13-year-old daughter. Do I look like a seventh grader? No? Cool. Great,” said the caption to the video posted on YouTube.
Garcia spent almost the whole day in class, and only towards evening one of the teachers noticed that instead of a girl, an adult woman was sitting at her desk. A few days later, the school administration contacted the police. The American woman was charged with illegal entry into private territory. At the same time, she herself stated that by her action she was trying to indicate that the security protocols adopted to prevent armed attacks on schools are not working.
In late November, the jury made its final decision in Garcia's case. For illegally entering school grounds, she was sentenced to six months of suspended imprisonment, a $700 fine and 100 hours of community service. The American woman's lawyer expressed satisfaction that her client did not receive a real sentence, but was outraged by the very fact of the guilty verdict. According to the lawyer, Garcia acted solely with good intentions and wanted to take care of the safety of schoolchildren.
