16 Actors Who Hated Their Uncomfortable Costumes (17 Photos)

An actor's job is far from easy. Sometimes during filming, actors are forced to wait several hours for makeup to be applied, or wear heavy costumes that almost suffocate them. The actors and actresses in this selection shared times when they hated their costumes while filming.

1. Rege Page complained that his costume in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023) was "extremely uncomfortable"

"Shooting in armor is terrible. You're hot all day. You can't sit down. You're constantly wet. They became a scuba diving suit for me, where I was 'in my own juice,'" the actor said in an interview.

2. While Tom Holland played Spider-Man, he constantly had problems with his costume.

"I asked for a zipper to be added to the suit, but they never did. They only added built-in cooling devices, which only worked once. Also, since taking off the suit takes a long time, I had to drink through a straw, passing it through the hole under eye," said the actor.

3. Actress Frances Fisher, who played Rose's mother in Titanic, complained about uncomfortable corsets on set

“The corset changed your posture, and it was difficult to breathe in it. No one could breathe normally. It was difficult to sit down. The corset literally dug into the body. And this despite the fact that there were so few places on the site where you could rest,” - the actress shared.

4. Actress Simone Ashley was very uncomfortable walking in a corset on the set of the series "Bridgertons"

“Once I ate salmon steaks before filming, but then I regretted it. I felt bad. Because it turns out that if you wear a corset, you simply can’t eat. Something constantly hurt me with it,” says Simon.

5. Although Ryan Reynolds was given a digital suit for Green Lantern, he wore a very uncomfortable jumpsuit during filming.

During filming, the actor was constantly wearing a suit with motion sensors. According to him, the suit was made of terrible quality fabric, and he constantly sweated in it.

6. While filming X-Men, Rebecca Romijn had to spend 8-9 hours just to put on the “costume” - or rather, blue body paint

Four make-up artists applied makeup to the actress for several hours every day. She said it was a tedious procedure, after which she "turned from a happy woman into an angry bitch" due to the long wait.

7. Jim Carrey said that the costume on the set of How the Grinch Stole Christmas drove him crazy

“Literally every day the makeup looked like I was being buried alive. The first time it took 8.5 hours to apply,” said Kerry.

8. Kit Harrington, who played Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, complained about the heavy furs he wore in most scenes.

“These furs weighed a ton and smelled terrible. I also think that every year they only increased in weight. But every time they put them on me, I instantly fell into the role of my character,” says the actor.

9. Emma Stone wore a corset for the first time on the set of The Favorite. According to her, it was impossible to breathe in it - and after several months, her organs even shifted

10. Rachel Brosnahan was also annoyed by corsets on the set of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

According to the actress, because of the outfits of her heroine from the era of the 50s and 60s, she even received an injury - now she cannot breathe deeply, and also the shape of her ribs has changed.

11. Scarlett Johansson complained that her jumpsuit in The Avengers looked more like a "wetsuit"

She also said that while filming the fight scene on the roof, she became so hot in the costume that she began to hallucinate.

12. On the set of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Paul Bettany had to spend 3.5 hours preparing, putting on makeup and putting on the costume.

13. Vicky Krieps couldn’t breathe properly in a corset on the set of the movie “Corsage”

“I couldn’t breathe or eat normally. I had worn corsets a couple of times before, but in this film we decided to use a real corset of that time, in the shape of an hourglass. I was in pain all the time! It was terrible,” said the actress.

14. Stefan Ure, who played the orc in “The Lord of the Rings,” struggled to breathe while wearing heavy facial prosthetics and makeup.

One day he felt so bad that he had a panic attack and wanted to rip all the makeup off his face. But he didn’t do this - the attack lasted a couple of minutes, and due to the abundance of makeup, no one even noticed that something was wrong with the actor.

15. On the set of Cinderella, Lily James's dress was "huge and heavy, and the corset was terribly tight."

16. Actor Val Kilmer, who played in Batman Forever, said that his costume was so tight that other people had to help him sit down and stand up.

“All my childhood delights were crushed by the reality of the Batman costume. Yes, every boy wants to be Batman. But playing him in a movie is a completely different story,” said the actor.
