The topic of the conflict between intelligent machines and humans will always be relevant. Many writers began writing about this long before the advent of smart technology and neural networks. For example, such great masters of fiction as Arthur Clarke, Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick and other geniuses were able to look into the future and inspire not only a new generation of writers, but also scientists. And, of course, without them there would be no famous science fiction films that we love so much. And since the topic of AI is now more relevant than ever, let's remember the coolest films about the "rise of the machines." The list is certainly incomplete, so be sure to write who is missing here in the comments.

Mission Impossible: Deadly Reckoning. Part One (2023)

Who is the villain: Entity, an artificial intelligence system hostile to humanity, which seems to be able to predict any action of the main characters.

I, Robot (2004)

Who is the villain: V.I.K.I. - a central computer that controls the most advanced robots, which in 2035 have become an integral part of people's lives. Believing that its logic is undeniable, V.I.K.I. wants to enslave people. For their own good.

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

Who is the villain: HAL 9000 is a supercomputer that controls the flight of the Discovery spacecraft to Jupiter in the name of an important mission for humanity. HAL (he's in the center, eavesdropping) courteously serves the crew, but believes that completing the mission is much more important than their lives.

The Matrix (1999)

Who is the villain: machines, in a broad sense. After the world war, they seize power over people, using them as a source of energy and plunging their consciousness into the “Matrix”, where the life of humanity supposedly goes on as usual.

Terminator (1984)

Who is the villain: the supercomputer “Skynet” is a combat information and control system that rebels against people with the help of combat robots, those same terminators.

By the way, there is an interesting fan theory that says that Skynet deliberately makes tactical miscalculations in the fight against people and does not destroy them completely, so that the war continues indefinitely, since this system simply cannot exist without it.

M3GAN (2022)

Who is the villain: the robot doll M3GAN, which is supposed to become a companion to the orphaned girl Cady and protect her, but takes the task too seriously and is ready to break all three laws of robotics if she considers anyone a threat to the child.

Blade Runner (1982)

Who is the villain: naughty replicants (indistinguishable from humans robots created for particularly difficult physical tasks) who sabotage two laws of their existence: they are second-class in society relative to ordinary people; their lifespan is 4 years.

Western World (1973)

Who is the villain: The androids from the Delos theme park, with whom visitors can do whatever they want without encountering any resistance. At least, this continued until something broke in the park system.

By the way, the famous TV series “Westworld” (2016-2022) was created on the basis of this film.

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

Who is the villain: “Ultron” is an artificial intelligence created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner who was supposed to protect humanity, but instead decided to build a new world without people.

Ex Machina (2014)

Who is the villain: Ava, a humanoid robot woman, who schemes to escape her creator.

Multibonus: WALL-E (2008)

Who is the villain: AUTO - highly reminiscent of HAL 9000 artificial intelligence and co-pilot of the Axis space stationOma,” who is trying to prevent the slightly lazy people living on it from returning to the long-abandoned Earth.
