Rare 1967 Ford GT40 up for sale (6 photos)
The British site Piston Heads has published an advertisement for the sale of a rare first-generation Ford GT40 sports car, produced in 1967. The amount is not specified, but according to some assumptions, the sports car could cost millions of dollars.
It is generally accepted that Ford built just over a hundred examples of the first-generation GT40, with most of them destined for the race track: far fewer road-going coupes were built. The GT40 Mk I for sale is one of them.
In 1967, it was assembled for the Swiss company Scuderia Filipinetti, on behalf of which the car was demonstrated at the Geneva Motor Show. Later, the sports car came under the ownership of the British division of Ford and was used as a press car: the car was provided for testing by journalists. Accordingly, he became the subject of many magazine publications of the time.
Ford GT40, which came off the assembly line in Opalescent Silver Blue, but was repainted several times during its life: it managed, for example, to be both dark green and bright yellow. The sports car's factory color was returned during restoration by the current owner, who purchased it in 2007.
The resource does not provide any other information about the car. It is not even known what kind of engine it is equipped with. The first generation Ford GT40 was equipped mainly with a 4.7-liter V8.
