Fitness blogger decided to take injections to burn fat - and almost died (11 photos)

A 26-year-old fitness blogger from Los Angeles shared the story of how she got fat-burning injections. The girl paid $800 for 60 injections in her arms and stomach - and the next day terrible scars appeared on her body, and she was afraid for her life.





Beatrice Amma, 26, moved to Los Angeles in 2021 with dreams of becoming an online fitness guru. Now the girl is a popular blogger, and she recently shared her unpleasant story about fat-burning injections. Three years ago, Beatrice decided to give her stomach and arms injections of vitamin B12 mixed with vitamin C and deoxycholic acid, a popular “fat solvent.” She received the injections at a local private clinic for $800.



“It seemed to me that everything was legal, clean and professional,” the girl said.

As the girl said, initially the staff of a private clinic advised her that “the more injections, the better” and that the effectiveness would be higher if they were given in several areas. Beatrice received about 60 injections: ten in each arm, 20 in the back and 20 in the stomach. However, the next morning the girl felt unwell - her temperature rose, chills and cold sweats appeared, which intensified throughout the day.



Two days later, in addition to feeling unwell, red welts appeared on the skin. According to Beatrice, doctors from the clinic assured that the symptoms were not dangerous. But the days passed, and the girl became worse and worse - she could no longer put on clothes normally, go to the toilet or sleep. As Beatrice says, her body was literally “eating itself.” When she began to experience severe pain, she feared for her life and went to the hospital. As the doctors explained, it was all due to a poorly performed procedure. After the injections, the tissue around the injection site began to die.



Tests confirmed that Beatrice had an infection caused by the subcutaneous mycobacterium mycobacterium abscessus: this bacterium, found in water, soil and dust, can contaminate medical devices. It also belongs to the same family of bacteria that causes tuberculosis and leprosy. Symptoms of infection: the appearance of abscesses filled with pus, as well as fever, chills and muscle pain. Then the doctors told Beatrice that it was better for her to give up her dream of becoming a fitness guru, and also that she would never be able to wear a bikini again.

“I dreamed of becoming a fitness instructor, loved to travel and wear a bikini. I worked very hard on my body. Doctors told me: “You have this forever, give up your dream of becoming famous, your skin will scare people.” One doctor said: “You You’ll never be able to walk on the beach in a bikini again - everyone will think you have monkeypox,” the girl said.



After this, Beatrice began a long journey to save her skin. After a year of treatment, the inflammation of the abscesses subsided, but the athlete continued to take antibiotics intravenously for six hours a day. In September 2022, she switched to oral antibiotics, which she stopped taking in February. However, in July this year she had to resume treatment as the disease began to reappear.

"It took almost a year for my wounds to heal. I underwent many surgeries to remove as much infected tissue as possible. Now I am starting treatment again. The consequences are very difficult for the body, and this is not the end. I would never have thought that because of some kind of injections, I’ll have to fight for my life,” says Beatrice.



Now, three years later, Beatrice is still battling complications and taking medication to manage her symptoms, but she has made it through the toughest part of her treatment - and is blogging to inspire others to live a healthy lifestyle, not give up, and of course, not to give up questionable injections.
