Brown bear population by country
It has long been known that the brown bear is the most common species of bear in the world. Its Holarctic range spans Europe, Asia and North America from the Arctic tundra to the arid and desert areas of the world.
According to various estimates, there are now about 200,000 brown bears in the world. Of these, the majority live in the USA - 32,500 (95% live in Alaska) and Canada - 25,000.
