A double lot consisting of a 1965 Brabham BT14/21 Formula 1 car and a Ford Thames Trader Transformer tow truck that transported the car has been put up for sale in Switzerland.
The Brabham team appeared in Formula 1 in the early 1960s. In 1966, Jack Brabham entered Royal Racing history as the first and only world champion to win a season in a car of his own design.
The Brabham BT14/21 that appeared at auction has been modified several times. From 1965 to 1968, he tried on two different 1.6 engines, “eight” engines with a volume of 3.5 and 4.5 liters. And now it is equipped with a V8 3.9 engine with a power of 430 hp, mated to a Hewland FG400 “mechanics”.
The car underwent a complete restoration in 2020–2021 and is in full working order.
The Ford Thames Trader family of trucks was made from 1957 to 1965. Their carrying capacity varied from two to seven tons, they were equipped with gasoline and diesel engines.
There is practically no information about the car put up for sale. We only know that it came off the assembly line in 1962, was equipped with an electric winch and ramps, and also went through a restoration procedure.
