A blogger from Los Angeles shocked social network users by revealing that he deliberately ate tapeworms for the sake of views and popularity. While fishing, Nicholas Kratka caught a perch. When he was cutting up the catch, he saw that the fish was eaten away by parasites.
The 23-year-old American wondered what would happen to him if he ate fish and parasites. He moved from words to actions. After some time, Kratka felt unwell and hurried to the doctor. He shared his experience in a video that has already collected 9 million views.
"I thought I would continue to live as before. But in fact, my stomach began to kill me. When I went to the doctor, he said that there was a high probability of worms spreading to my eyes and brain, which would kill me if I did not take urgent measures," the experimenter shared.
According to Nicholas, he was given medication for tapeworms and sent home. Within a week, the unpleasant symptoms disappeared.
"I'm an idiot, I won't lie. This is entirely my fault. If you take away a lesson from this, it's this: don't eat the worms from the bass. Especially from the lakes and ponds of Florida, where the environment is warm," the author concluded.
Surprisingly, the diet using tapeworms appeared in Victorian times. Anyone who wants to lose weight swallows a pill containing a tapeworm egg inside. The parasite grows in your body and feeds on what you eat.
Tapeworms can attach to various parts of the digestive tract and cause serious damage.
The following symptoms are observed:
diarrhea
abdominal pain
nausea
weakness
heat
Bacterial infections, neurological problems, and even death are also possible.
Infection occurs when eggs or larvae of worms enter the body through contact with contaminated surfaces, as well as through consumption of raw water or unprocessed food. Some types of parasites can be contracted from pets, but this is rare.
Fortunately, most helminthic infestations can be treated with antibiotics.
