The first motorcycle with a hybrid power plant (3 photos + 1 video)
At the EICMA exhibition in 2022, Kawasaki first showed the public the concept of a hybrid motorcycle, and in October 2023 it received production embodiment. According to representatives of the Japanese company, Ninja 7 HEV is the first commercial two-wheeled hybrid. 
The power plant of the gasoline-electric Ninja is based on a 451 cc 2-cylinder in-line engine, in which a small 12-horsepower electric motor is built. The total recoil is 58.3 force, but it can be temporarily increased to 68.5 force using the e-Boost function. The energy supply is stored in a compact 48-volt battery hidden under the seat.
The company has not yet provided details about the checkpoint, but noted several important features associated with it. Firstly, it is capable of clicking gears both in manual and automatic mode, and secondly, the motorcycle does not have a clutch lever or gearbox foot. That is, the Ninja 7 HEV has a design similar to the DCT of the Honda Africa Twin, for example, where gears are selected using buttons on the left remote control. Additionally, the presence of reverse gear is stated, implemented using an electric motor.
The Ninja 7 HEV will have several driving modes from all-electric to the performance Sport Hybrid, in which the motorcycle's electronics will make maximum use of the electrical superstructure to assist the internal combustion engine. Kawasaki is keeping the dynamic characteristics secret for now, but claims that in terms of performance, the “seven” is close to the usual 700 cc motorcycles, but when starting from a standstill it can compete with 1000 cc ones.
All specifications of the Ninja 7 HEV, as well as prices, will be revealed closer to the start of sales of the model, scheduled for January 2024. So far, the new product has been announced only for the markets of the European Union and Great Britain.
