Czech SKODA introduced the new Kodiaq 2024 (40 photos)

The new Skoda Kodiaq 2024 crossover has retained its recognizable appearance, but has grown in size and received new options. Diesel engines will remain on the European market, and the main new product will be a plug-in hybrid.





Kodiaq remained on the MQB platform. With dimensions of 4758x1864x1657 millimeters, the second generation is 61 millimeters longer, 18 millimeters narrower and 17 millimeters lower. The wheelbase of 2791 millimeters remains unchanged. The trunk volume in the five-seater version increased by 75 liters, to 910. With a three-row cabin - by 80 liters, to 845.

The car was left with double-decker headlights with matrix technology as an option and C-shaped taillights. The front and rear optics are now visually connected by jumpers, glowing at the front and regular red at the rear. But in profile, the Kodiaq began to look completely different. Wheels - with a diameter of 17 to 20 inches.

The interior of the crossover and the new, not yet presented generation of Skoda Superb is the same. The media system screen has increased to 13 inches; a digital instrument panel with a 10-inch display is included in the basic equipment. The gear selector has moved to the steering column. Three rotating climate control knobs are equipped with miniature displays, and functions can be reassigned to your liking (but from the proposed set).

Among the features of the Simply Clever proprietary concept are new places for storing small items in the rear passengers, microfiber for wiping the display, a wireless charging pad for two smartphones with cooling, an umbrella in the door, linings that protect the ends of the side doors and the trunk sill.

A fundamentally new modification in the family is a rechargeable hybrid. The 1.5 TSI turbo engine is complemented by an electric motor, which gives a total output of 204 hp. A battery with a capacity of 25.7 kWh can travel up to 100 kilometers, and can also be charged with direct current with a power of up to 50 kW. The plug-in Kodiaq is front-wheel drive, with a 6-speed DSG gearbox.

The petrol range consists of a “mild” hybrid with a 1.5 TSI engine (150 hp) and a 2.0 TSI version (204 hp), diesel engines are represented by 2.0 TDI engines in 150 and 193 hp versions. All of them are combined with a 7-band preselective “robot”. All-wheel drive is only available for more powerful engine versions.

The electric drive of the fifth door was included in the basic package. Expensive versions will have a head-up display and front seats with massagers.

Driver assistants have become more attentive and skillful. A warning system has appeared about the danger of opening the door. It tracks 35 meters with a viewing angle of 120 degrees. If the driver or one of the passengers is about to get out, the car will warn of approaching traffic. An intersection assistant has been introduced that monitors oncoming traffic when turning left.

Also for the first time, the model has a remote parking function. It remembers up to five parking spaces and the approach path up to 50 meters to each of them. You need to activate the parking assistant in advance and let the car remember the trajectory by driving along it yourself. Then, once at the same starting point, the Kodiaq will be able to repeat the entry and exit. Of course, provided there are no new obstacles on the way. The driver can control the process both from the passenger compartment and while standing outside, but no further than five meters from the car.

The start of sales in Europe is scheduled for early 2024. Prices with trim levels will be announced at the same time.
