In Thailand, monkeys raided a supermarket
About ten monkeys raided a supermarket in Thailand. The animals searched the plastic boxes, found food and ran away.
About ten primates carried out an organized raid on a grocery store on Phi Phi Island. According to eyewitnesses, they took turns opening the boxes of fruit, obeying the orders of the leader and taking the loot. A separate group attacked the tourists and stole food from their hands.
According to the government, the quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic was to blame, which allowed the monkeys to move freely around Thai cities. Somewhere, primates began to feel so confident in themselves that they stopped paying attention to people and even started fights between competing groups. For example, in 2021, hundreds of monkeys fought for the right to sit at the foot of a Buddhist temple in Bangkok.
