Residents of the Spanish city of Bunol held a large-scale battle with tomatoes in honor of the Tomatina festival (5 photos + 1 video)
The holiday has been held in the city for 78 years, after a special signal, everyone is allowed to throw at each other tomatoes.
Most of the participants are specially dressed in white clothes, so that the red color is more visible on it. Tomatoes this year the events cost the city authorities twice as much as in the past. Their cost was €30,000. About 20,000 people took part in the festival.
Note that for all the years of the "Tomatina" there was not a single accident.
All week long, tomato fights are accompanied by fairs, songs, dances, fireworks, paella cooking contests.
