Japanese officials ate fish from Fukushima prefecture, where water is dumped from a nuclear power plant
The Japanese were about to dump water that was used to cool nuclear reactors into the ocean. Despite the announcement by the Japanese authorities, many scientists are horrified by this idea.
Japan is starting to dump water that used to cool the Fokushima-1 nuclear reactors. The process will last about 30 years, since the volume of water discharged is more than 1 million tons. In June, scientists caught fish near the nuclear power plant and it turned out that the fish contained 180 times the maximum allowable dose of radionuclides. Many scientists are horrified by this initiative and the Japanese authorities decided to dissuade everyone.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and several other ministers ate fish and seafood from Fukushima Prefecture during lunch.
Against the background of the discharge of water from Fukushima-1 into the Pacific Ocean, China has introduced a complete ban on the import of marine products from Japan.
