Would you like to be able to take a nap in the middle of the working day? IN Japan came up with vertical sleep pods where you can sleep standing up. They will appear at Harajuku Nescafé in central Tokyo, and will designed primarily for office workers.
Japanese engineers from Koyoju have a new idea. They created the concept of stand-up sleep pods. These capsules are already at the end will appear at Harajuku Nescafé in downtown Tokyo on August. First of all they are intended for office workers who may take a nap during break time, but also for everyone. Capsules are made in two design options, futuristic and with wood elements:
The capsules are called Giraffenap. Since sleeping standing up is not quite natural for us, inside each cabin there are cushions and platforms for support for the head, buttocks, legs and feet. According to the capsule designers, in this position, you can comfortably reach the second stage of sleep, when heart rate and body temperature decrease. 20 minute sleeping in a capsule will improve mental performance by reducing fatigue and stress, while improving concentration and memory.
Nescafé Harajuku itself recommends a drink first a cup of coffee and then a 20 minute nap in the capsule to get the caffeine going act around the time the visitor wakes up. Besides, as planned by the manufacturer, such capsules can be installed directly at workplaces and offices - so that employees have the opportunity to sleep during the break.
