Previously, the picture was considered a fake, but now it turned out that it's original - and could cost between £1 million and £2 million sterling. The couple own Craufurdland Castle in the British county Ayrshire, which has been passed down in the family for 800 years. However, the family has recently experienced financial difficulties due to huge sums for the upkeep of the castle. The couple were already thinking about selling the house - but a valuable find promises to change everything for the better.

Sketchbooks of Constable show that the artist was in the area around the time the painting was created - in the 1820s. The Craufurd family purchased the painting in 1918 from John Postle Heseltine, a prominent art collector.
