Lawyer from Brazil got a little carried away with shopping and exhausted the limit on a credit card, but did not despair and instead came to the police with a colorful story worthy of a film adaptation from Quentin Tarantino: supposedly he was kidnapped and forced at gunpoint to give out a pin code.





One fine day, Rodrigo Barcelos de Oliveira broke into 16th police station of his hometown of Rio de Janeiro to report a serious crime. He told the police that earlier in the same day I was driving calmly along the Avenida das Americas road, when suddenly two armed men on motorcycles drove up and forced park in the parking lot of Barra, a mall in the western part of Rio. There, one of the men took away his credit card and within five hours went shopping while the second criminal guarded Rodrigo at gunpoint pistol. The lawyer told the extortionists the pin code to the card, and they spent all money up to the limit set by the bank - 13 thousand reais. Then the kidnappers left with the purchased goods, precious things Rodrigo, his phone, wallet and engagement ring.



In the light of such serious allegations, the police of Rio de Janeiro immediately launched an investigation and the first thing she did was to check records from CCTV cameras in the mall to identify the person who used the lawyer's credit card. What was their surprise when they saw Rodrigo Barcelos de Oliveiro, who calmly walked around the mall with a mobile phone in hand. The police watched with their own eyes as the lawyer makes purchases with his credit card in 11 different stores, including a supermarket, a motorcycle accessories store, an optician, a shoe store and a designer clothing store.








After reporting to the police, the Brazilian also tried to cancel all purchases through the bank, stating that his credit card was stolen. However, the bank declined his request because each time correct pin.



After reviewing the surveillance footage from the trading center, the police transferred Rodrigo to the status of a suspect and in the past Friday searched his apartment. Of course, all goods supposedly bought by one of the armed bandits were found in the lawyer's house: among them were sneakers, swimming trunks, designer underwear and motorcycle helmet.



Caught red-handed Brazilian admits to making up story about the kidnapping, but stated that he was forced to resort to lies by financial difficulties. Now he faces charges of fraud and false crime reporting.
